Welsh Love Spoons Featuring a Flower

The flower symbol is a token of affection.

Flowers have been featured increasingly more frequently within Welsh love spoon design since early on in the tradition’s history. To give a person flowers is a wonderful gesture of affection, but to carve a person flowers is an admirable testament to the carver’s true dedication. It is likely that carvers chose symbols such as flowers not only for their strong associations with affection, but for the level of intricacy and skill required to depict them in the medium of wood.
