Anchor Symbol

The anchor is symbolic of steadfastness and a wish to settle down.  The anchor symbol was originally popularised in Welsh love spoon carving by sailors.

On a long journey, many sailors passed time by carving Welsh love spoons. Unsurprisingly, they found inspiration in their surroundings and began carving anchors into their work. The work of these sailors has forever flavoured the canon of Welsh love spoon designs, and we are still honouring their contributions within the tradition to this day.
